BBC Lifestyle – The Great South African Bake Off  Competition – (the “Competition”)

Terms and Conditions

  1. The BBC Code of Conduct (the “Code”) for competitions can be found at https://www.bbc.com/editorialguidelines/guidance/code-of-conduct  and all BBC Studios Limited (“BBCSD”) promotions comply with the Code.
  2. The Competition opens on 01 September 2023 at 12:00 South African time and closing at 23:59 on 05 October 2023 (“Closing Date”).
  3. The Competition is open to all residents of South Africa aged 18 years or over except employees of BBCSD and their subsidiaries, agencies, members of their families and anyone professionally associated with the Competition (“Entrants”).
  4. By entering the Competition, the Entrants agree:
  • to be bound by these Terms and Conditions;
  • that their name & surname and county of residence may be released if they win a prize;
  • that should they win the Competition, their name and likeness may be used by BBC Studios Africa for pre-arranged promotional purposes.
  1. No purchase is necessary to enter.
  2. One winner, every week for a period of 5 (five) weeks will be selected based on the criteria set out in clause 11. Each week a new multiple choice question relating to that week’s episode will be posted on the competition page.
    1. A new competition question will be posted every Friday at 12:00;
    2. The closing time for each week’s question is Thursday at 23:59.
  3. Entrants should enter the competition by submitting their answers to https://www.bbcafricachannels.com/Great-South-African-Bake-Off-Competition  to stand a chance to win.
  4. Only one (1) entry will be permitted per person regardless of method of entry and bulk entries (meaning the use of any form of technology which allows multiple simultaneous entries) will not be permitted.  Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.  No responsibility is taken for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered for any technical or other reason.  Entries received after the Closing Date will not be considered.
  5. Entrants must supply to BBCSD their full name, email address, contact number, province and recipe name. BBCSD will only ever use Entrant’s personal details in accordance with the BBC Studios Privacy Policy at https://www.bbcstudios.com/privacy.
  6. Entrants data will be collected and used only for the purposes of administration of this competition.  Each winner will be asked to supply their full name, email address, contact number, province in order to administer the prize(s).
  7. Entrants are required to submit their answers to a multiple question that will be posted every week.  The selected winner(s) will win a KitchenAid Mixer hamper valued at R20 000 made up of KitchenAid Artisan Mixer and 3pc Mixer Attachment pack. One winner will be selected each week over a period of 5 (five) weeks thus there will be a total of 5 (five) winners. Winners will be selected randomly. The judges’ decision is final.
  8. The prize will be a KitchenAid Mixer hamper inclusive of KitchenAid Artisan Mixer and 3pc Mixer Attachment pack valued at R20 000 (the “Prize”).
  9. The winner will be notified each week by email, with the last winner being notified by the 11th October 2023.  If the winner(s) is unable to be contacted within one calendar month of the Closing Date of the Competition, BBC Studios Africa reserves the right to offer the Prize to a runner-up, or to re-offer the Prize in any future BBC Studios Africa competition.
  10. On successful contact and confirmation with the winner(s) BBCSD will send the prize(s) to the winner(s) by courier. BBCSD will not be liable for any disruption, delay, strike action or incorrect delivery by any postal or courier service or if incorrect details are provided.
  11. There is no cash alternative and the prizes will not be transferable.  Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. If a prize must be taken on a specific date and the Winner is unable to attend on that day, BBCSD reserves the right to offer the prize to a runner up or to re-offer the prize in any future BBCSD promotion. BBCSD accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with the prizes and not specifically included/ stated. If any prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, BBCSD reserves the right to substitute the prize for another prize of equal or greater value.
  12. Any promotional activity or press release any winner makes in relation to the Competition must be pre-approved by BBCSD in writing.
  13. BBCSD excludes liability to the full extent permitted by law for any loss, damage or injury occurring to the participant arising from his or her entry into the Competition or occurring to the winner(s) arising from his or her acceptance of a prize.
  14. BBCSD excludes liability to the full extent permitted by law for any loss, damage or injury occurring to the participant arising from his or her entry into the Competition or occurring to the winner arising from his or her acceptance of a prize.  Claims relating to the prize should be made directly to the manufacturer (www.kitchenaidafrica.com).
  15. Printing, spelling, typesetting or similar errors in these Terms and Conditions and/or any other documentation related to the Competition cannot be invoked against BBCSD and cannot, in any way, establish binding obligations for BBCSD.
  16. Entry into the Competition is acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  17. BBCSD reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or to cancel, alter or amend the Competition or the Prize at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.
  18. The Competition is subject to the laws of England and Wales.
